CHEESE FONDUE in the mountains of Switzerland. It is incredible what can be reached in just one day with a bit of planning. We left the Basel area in the morning this Saturday and look what happened. From Stechelberg we went by three sections of cable cars to Birg. We arrived to the igloo by foot (it is also possible to come skiing or on snowboard) where we had booked a fondue-deluxe lunch in advance. The menu included white mulled wine, traditional local sausage and cheese, a lovely cheese fondue with lots of bread and white wine. All served by a super friendly and service minded guy. All the food was delicious, the 360° mountain-view unbeatable. We all had a stunning and unforgettable experience. It is the second year the igloo is built here. In less good weather there is the option to eat inside the igloo, also in the evening. After lunch we hiked up to the Thrill Walk at Birg and on the way down made a stopover for coffee and cake at restaurant Alpenruh in Mürren before finally returning home. What a day!
