GWATT, camping and birds at Lake Thun

GWATT with the Bonstetten Park, near Thun, is a small paradise. On this small area, with just about 1,5 kilometer of hiking path close to the lakeshore of Lake Thun, it is possible to jog, walk, have a picnic or barbecue, swim, paddle kayak, stand up paddling, and all other sorts of water activities, children can play on the playground and there is also a small but good campsite where we actually stayed some nights. The campsite also rents out small chalets and has a small restaurant where everybody is welcome. It is possible to watch all sorts of birds at the end of the area, many of them on their nests, from a dedicated bird watching platform and even a bird-watching tower. From everywhere there are stunning views over the lake to the surrounding mountains including Niederhorn and Niesen. A perfect spot for a weekend get-together for families and friends. There are plenty of parking places close to the park including places dedicated to motorhomes.
