Nufenen mountain pass in Switzerland, 2.478 m.a.s.l.
Nufenen Pass in Switzerland is the highest mountain pass within the borders of the country. 2.478 meters above sea level. This is already high enough to feel the relative lack of air you breathe, but, still ok. When we arrived in the camper, in bright sunshine and almost no wind, we forgot all about thin air. The views in all directions are absolutely stunning and the goulash soup in the summit restaurant was very delicious. And then before leaving, we were SO lucky to meet a big herd of Valais Blacknose sheep. They are just the cutest you can imagine. The top of the Nufenen Pass is bordered by the two cantons Valais and Ticino. Driving down on the Valais side, we passed the huge Griess Lake gravity dam which was built from 1963 to 1966. The power station produces at least an impressive over 20 mio. KWh per year.
